Question 927659: Ernie says: I have drawn a triangle. It has one right angle and one side is 1 inch. Suzie, you draw a triangle with the same two properties.
Suzie says: My triangle will be congruent to yours, because all triangles that have those two properties must be congruent.
Is Suzie correct to say all triangles with these two properties must be congruent? Explain your answer.

No, Suzie can create a right triangle with one side being 1 inch, but that isn't enough to make the same right triangle as Ernie's.

We know the side is one inch. So that is the S

We know that the angle is 90 degree, so that is the A

but we need either another angle (A) or another side S where the other side sandwiches the angle between them. If we have 2 angles, we can use AAS or ASA. If we have 2 sides (angle in between), then we can use SAS.

At this moment in time, we don't have enough info to know if Suzie's triangle is the same as Ernie's triangle.
