A piece of wire is in the shape of an equilateral triangle with side 80 cm.
3 * 80 = 240cm, the total length of the wire
;
The wire is reshaped into a rectangle in which the length is twice the width.
let x = the width
then
2x = the length
Find the x using a perimeter of 80 cm
2(2x) + 2x = 80
6x = 80
x = 80/6
x = 13 = the width
then
2(13) = 26 cm is the length
:
A = 26 * 13 = 355.555 sq/cm is the area of the rectangle
:
calculate the area of the rectangle in square metres
= .0355555 sq/m
