Question 869627: I'm trying to solve this Question. "One leg of a triangle is 48 units long. The other two sides have integral lengths. Find all possible lengths of the two sides." I drew a triangle and labeled one side 48. i tried using cosign to find the hypotenuse but i got an answer of 0. Please help.

Look for Pythagorean triples to help you.
They are leg-leg-hypotenuse combinations that meet the Pythagorean theorem.
3-4-5
5-12-13
8-15-17
7-24-25
20-21-29
12-35-37
9-40-41
So now look in the first two values of the triples for values that are factors of 48 and calculate the multiplier.
3-4-5 : 3*16
3-4-5 : 4*12
5-12-13 : 12*4
8-15-17 : 8*6
7-24-25 : 24*2
12-35-37 : 12*4
Then use that multiplier on all members of the triple.
3-4-5(16) -> 48-64-80
3-4-5(12) -> 36-48-60
5-12-13(4) -> 20-48-52
8-15-17(6) -> 48-80-102
7-24-25(2)->14-48-50
12-35-37(4)->48-140-148
