How do I find the length of the base of an isosceles triangle? The leg lengths are 1210 feet, the base angles are 34 degrees and the top angle is 112 degrees. How do I use this information to find the base?
----------------------
Draw a perpendicular-bisector of the base thru the vertex.
You now have two right triangles.
hypotenuse = 1210
base angle = 34 degrees
top angle = 56 degrees
---
altitude = 1210*sin(34 degrees) = 676.62
-----
Use Pythagoras to find base of the right triangle:
base^2 = 1210^2-676.62^2
base = 1003.14
----
Total base = 2*1003.14 = 2006.28
------------------------------------

Stan H.
