The altitude divides the isosceles triangle into two right triangles in which base is 11 m and hypotenuse is 29 m.

Find altitude: Altitude is a leg of each right triangle.

area of the two right triangles:

Just compute that.

the base is 22
1/2 base *height a=1/2b*h where b=22
the height is y in x^2+y^2=z^2
where x=11 and z=29
11^2+y^2=29^2
y^2+121 = 841
y^2 = 720
y=12sqrt(5)=26.8328
h=y
a=1/2b*h
a=1/2*22*26.8328=295.16097
