Question 802958: The ratio of the perimeter of a triangle to its shorter side is 10:3. The perimeter is 35 cm. What is the length of the shortest side?

very simple
let the short side be n
such that
10:3 = 35:n
since a ratio is essentially a fraction, we can express the above as
10/3 = 35/n
now cross multiply to get
10n = 35 * 3 = 105
solve for n to get
n = 10.5 cm
