Question 800616: A manufacturer makes trusses, or triangular supports, for the roofs of houses. Each truss is the shape of an isosceles triangle in wich PQ is congruent to PR. The length of the base QR is 4/3 the length of each if the congruent sides. The perimeter of the truss is 60 ft. Find each side length.

A manufacturer makes trusses, or triangular supports, for the roofs of houses. Each truss is the shape of an isosceles triangle in wich PQ is congruent to PR. The length of the base QR is 4/3 the length of each if the congruent sides. The perimeter of the truss is 60 ft. Find each side length.
-----------------------
Equation:
x + x + (4/3)x = 60
3x + 3x + 4x = 180
10x = 180
x = 18 ft (length of each of the equal sides)
(4/3)x = 24 ft (length of the base.
