Question 787185: In a triangle with two sides of equal length The third side measures 15 inches less than the sum Of the 2 equal sides. The perimeter of the triangle is 53 inches. Find the Length Of the three side
Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Two equal sides = x
Third side = 2x - 15
Perimeter = x + x + (2x - 15)
53 = x + x + 2x - 15
Collect like terms
4x = 53 + 15
4x = 68
x = 17
Two equal sides = 17 inches
Third side = 19 inches.
Hope this helps.
