Question 757944: the hypotenuse of a right triangle is 50 meters long and one side is 30 meters long what is the length of the remaining side?

Consider a right angled triangle ABC
The hypotenuse - AC
One side - AB
The other side - BC
AC = 50m
AB = 30m
BC - Unknown
AB^2 + BC^2 = AC^2
30^2 + BC^2 = 50^2
BC^2 = 50^2 - 30^2
BC^2 = 3400
BC = square root of 3400
BC = 58.3m
Hope this helps
