Question 730651:

the base of the triangle is 1 m less than its height and the area is 15m .find the height

Answer by checkley79(3341)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A=BH/2
15=(H-1)H/2
15=(H^2-H)/2 CROSS MULTIPLY
2*15=H^2-H
30=H^2-H
H^2-H-30=0
(H-6)(H+5)=0
H-6=0
H=6 ANS FOR THE HEIGHT.
PROOF:
15=(6-1)6/2
15=5*6/2
15=30/2
15=15
