Question 588244: construct an isosceles triangle ABC in which AB=BC=4cm and the median AD=5cm

the median drawn to the base of an isosceles triangle or to the unequal side is also the perpendicular bisector as well as the altitude of the same side.
hence, by pythagoras theorem we can find the base i.e. 6 cm. and thus construct the triangle.
