Question 587999: Hi, could you please help me with this exercise?
The perimeter is 96m.
a=42m
b=(10/17)*c
Find the area.
It's about a normal triangle..not a rectangular one..

Answer by seliva-m(1)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
solve c using P=a+b+c, where p=96,a=42,b=10/17*c:
96=42+(10/17)c+c
-27/17c=-54, divide both side by -27/17; c=34
for b, subst. c=34 in b=10/17*c ; b=20
therefore sides of this triangle are 42,34,20 respectively, knowing longest side=42 w/c is also the base and obtaining 1/2 of it we can solve for h by P.T
h=sqrt of 34^2-21^2 ; h=26.74
A=1/2*a*h ; 1/2*42*26.74
area therefore is 561.54 sq. meter
hope i got it correct
