Question 579681: What is the length of the altitude to the hypotenuse of a right triangle whose sides have lengths 10, 24, and 26?
Answer by Edwin McCravy(20060)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
     AC = 10, BC = 24, AB = 26

     Draw altitude CD:

       ᐃABC ∼ ᐃACD ∼ ᐃCBD

Therefore

            =

            =

        26·CD = 24·10

        26·CD = 240

           CD =

           CD =  or about 9.231
