Hello,
We know the area of a triangle is 1/2BH where B is the base and H is the height.
Let x be the base:
1/2(x)(3x)=24
Rewritten as:
1.5x^2=24
Divide both sides by 1.5
x^2=16
Square root both sides:
x=+-4
4 is the only answer so we know the base is 4 inches.
Make sense?
