Hello,
We know the area of a triangle is 1/2 Base times height. We know it's a right triangle because it says one side is the hypotenuse, So plug in:
1/2(3x)(2x+10)=
1/2(6x^2+30x)=
3x^2+15x=Area
We could write this as:
3(x^2+5x)= Area of the triangle
Another way to tackle this is to find the value of x by using the hypotenuse formula. It's more complicated but x equals approx 3.6709
Once we have the value of x then plug it into 3(x^2+5x)
This comes out to approx 95.49 square units.
Make sense?
