The total number of degrees in a triangle is 180.
a+b+c=180
If one of the angles is right, its value is 90 so the other two angles must add up to be 90
a+b+90=180
a+b=90
For two numbers positive numbers that aren't zero to add up to be 90 each must be less than 90
