Question 529002: the measure of the vertex angle of an isosceles triangle is one-fourth that of a base angle. What is the measure of each base angle and the measure of the vertex angle? Could you also explain how you got this answer? Thanks!

the measure of the vertex angle of an isosceles triangle is one-fourth that of a base angle. What is the measure of each base angle and the measure of the vertex angle?
-----
Let each base angle be "4x"
Then the vertex angle is "x"
----
Equation:
4x + 4x + x = 180
9x = 180
x = 20 degrees (size of the vertex angle)
