Question 489482: A triangular garden has an area of 108sq ft. Its height is 6ft more than its base. Find the measure of the base
Answer by cleomenius(959)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Area = 1/2 b*h
108 = 1/2 (x)(x + 6)
216 = x^2 + 6x
0 = (x^2 + 6x -216)
(x + 18)(x - 12)
x = 12
base = 12 ft
height = 18 ft
108 sq ft = 1/2(12)ft(18)ft
