If the hypotenuse of a right triangle is 70 feet and one of the legs is 42 feet, what is the length of the other leg?
.
Applying Pythagorean theorem:
Let x = length of other leg
then
x^2 + 42^2 = 70^2
x^2 + 1764 = 4900
x^2 = 3136
x = 56 feet
