There are three segments that can be drawn inside a 3-4-5 triangle parallel to one of the sides such that each will divide the area of the triangle in half. Find the exact length of the of the shortest of these segments. Express answer in exact and correct form.
The shortest segment is parallel to the shortest side (with length of 3)
Let x = the length of shortest segment
4x/3 = the length of other side of smaller triangle
x * 4x/3 = 3*4*1/2
x^2 = 4.5
x = 2.12
