an isosceles triangle says two sides are identical, and thus their angles must also be equal.
Since this is a right triangle, one angle must be 90 degrees.
All triangles have 180 degrees of interior angle.
So the other two equal angles must be 180-90 = 90
Each must then be 90/2 or 45 degrees

The base angles are equal.
Let each base angle be "x".
---
The sum of the angles is 180.
Equation:
90+2x = 180
2x = 90
x = 45 degrees.
Each base angle is 45 degrees.
