Question 308552: what is the formula of a triangle that is 1 2/3 yard for base and 3/4 yard for height? Not sure how to figure the 2/3, and 3/4 on the calculator.
Answer by rapaljer(4671) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Change the 1 2/3 to an improper fraction which is 5/3, then you can calculate 5 divided by 3.
Now, the formula for area of a fraction is .
With a calculator, multply , which you can do in your head = 5/4, then take that answer and divide by 2.
On the calculator, 5 divided by 3 times 3 divided by 4, and then divided by 2. You will get a decimal, which most calculators will convert back to a fraction.
The final answer is 5/8.
