Find the equation of the line passing through (-1, -3) and perpendicular to y = -2x + 3.
y= -2x +3
slope = -2
slope of perpendicular line = +1/2
x1,y1 (-1, -3)
equation of line passing through a point x1 y1
y-y1 = m(x-x1)
y-(-3)= 1/2 ( x-(-1))
y+3 = 1/2 (x+1)
2y+6 =x+1
2y= x-5
y= 1/2 x -5/2 is the perpendicular line
