Question 286562: triangle CAT has vertices c(4,9) A(8,-9) T(-6,5)
A. find the cordinates of the midpoints of each side of the triangle.
B. Find the length of the median from point C to TA.
C. Find the perimeter of triangle CAT.
D. Find the perimeter of the triangle formed in part a above.
E. How do the perimeters in parts c and d compare?
I did part a and b, but part b is wrong and i dont know the difference btween the question asked in part c from d.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
triangle CAT has vertices c(4,9) A(8,-9) T(-6,5)
A. find the cordinates of the midpoints of each side of the triangle.
Find the midpoints by getting the average of x and y separately.
for CA:
x = (4+8)/2 = 6
y = (9-9)/2 = 0
MP at (6,0)
-----------
for AT: MP at (1,-2)
for CT: MP at (-1,7)
---------------------
B. Find the length of the median from point C to TA.
distance from C to MP of TA
d+=+sqrt%28diffy%5E2+%2B+diffx%5E2%29
d+=+sqrt%283%5E2+%2B+11%5E2%29
d+=+4sqrt%2815%29
--------------------
C. Find the perimeter of triangle CAT.
P = CA + AT + TC
P+=+2sqrt%2885%29+%2B+14sqrt%282%29+%2B+2sqrt%2829%29
P =~ 49.008
----------------------------------------------
D. Find the perimeter of the triangle formed in part a above.
= sqrt%2829%29+%2B+sqrt%2885%29+%2B+sqrt%2898%29
=~ 24.504
E. How do the perimeters in parts c and d compare?
The smaller is 1/2 the larger.
