Question 284564: One angle of a triangle is a right angle. The third angle is three times the smallest angle. what are their measures?
I have tried setting up an equation:
180= 90 + 3x + x
--------
-90
90= 3x + x
-------
3
30= x
but it didn't work because if this answer is substituted back in it doesn't work. I'm not sure if i just solved the equation wrong or if it is the wrong equation all together.
If you can help me it will be greatly appreshiated:)
Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You were good up to
90=3x+x
you divided the 90 by 3 and 3x by 3 but you forgot the other x
anyways it was the wrong move
90=3x+x
add 3x+x to get 4x
90=4x
now divide by 4
