Question 258388: One side of a triangle is 18 feet longer that its shortest side. The remaining side is 11 feet less than 3 times the length of the shortest side. Find The dimensions of the triangle if the perimeter of it is 137 feet.
Answer by checkley77(12844) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
X=S+18
Y=3S-11
X+Y+S=137
S+18+3S-11+S=137
5S=137-18+11
5S=130
S=130/5
S=26 FT. FOR THE SHORTEST SIDE.
X=26+18=44 FT. FOR THE MIDDLE SIDE.
Y=3*26-11=78-11=67 FT. FOR THE LONGER SIDE.
PROOF:
26+44+67=137
137=137
