The Pythagorean theorem which is a^2+b^2=c^2
where c is the hypotenuse and a nd b are the legs
So we have 9^2+b^2=14^2
Multiply it out and solve for b the other leg(side).

you could use the pythagorean theorem. The pythagorean theorem goes like this: a^2+b^2=c^2. basically the two legs of the triangle are a and b and the hypothenuse is c, always. You substitute your values into the formula. In this case, 14 as c and 9 as a. so your equation would look like 9^2+b^2= 14^2. Then you simplify this and get 81+b^2=196. You subtract 81 on both sides and get b^2=115. Then if you do the square root to get b, your answer would be b= .
