Let the side of the equilateral triangle be x.
Then half the base will be and the height is given as .
So we now have the three sides of one of the right triangles (x (the hypotenuse)), (x/2 (the base)), and ( (the height)), two of them in terms of x, so we can use the Pythagorean theorem to find the value of x.

Multiply through by 4 to clear the fraction.
Subtract from both sides.
Divide both sides by 3.
Take the square root of both sides.

The side of the equilateral triangle is 16.
