Question 17708: In an isosceles triangle, the third side is 50% of the length of one of the equal sides. Find the length of each side when the perimeter is 125 ft.
Answer by xcentaur(357)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let the sides be x,x and y
then 2x+y=125 feet....[perimeter given]
y=1/2x.....[given]
so we get,
2x+(1/2)x=125
(5/2)x=125
5x=125*2
x=250/5
x=50
y=1/2x=25

So the lengths of the sides are:
25m,50m,50m

Hope this helps,
