The second angle of a triangle is 3X as large as the 1st. The third angle is 20 degrees larger than the sum of the first two. Find the measures of the angles.
:
Let x = 1st angle
then
3x = 2nd angle
and
(x + 3x + 20)
or
(4x+20) = 3rd angle
:
x + 3x + (4x+20) = 180
:
8x = 180 - 20
x =
x = 20 degrees (1st angle)
;
3(20) = 60 degrees (2nd angle)
:
4(20) + 20 = 100 degrees (3rd angle)
