Question 120657: the measure of the complement of an angle is 6 degrees less than half the measure of the angle. find the measure of the angle

Say the angle measures x degrees. Then its complement measures 90-x degrees. So we know 90-x=.5x-6
Add x and add 6 to both sides.
96=1.5x
1.5 is 3/2, so multiply both sides by 2/3
64=x
Test to make sure this works. The complement would be 90-64=26 degrees. Half would be 32, so 32-6=26. So x=64 works.
