The base of a parallelogram is twice its height.
If the area of the parallelogram is 72 sq. ft., find its base and height.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let the height be x;  then the base is 2x.
The area equation is
    (2x)*x = 72   sq.ft
      2x^2 = 72
       x^2 = 72/2 = 36
        x         =  = 6.
ANSWER.  The height is 5 ft;  the base is 2*6 = 12 ft.
Solved.
