Question 1134985: Solve the following problem. Be sure to make a diagram of the situation with all the given information labeled.
The two equal sides of an isosceles triangle are each 30 centimeters. If the base measures 44 centimeters, find the height h and the measure of the two equal angles θ. (Round your answers to the nearest whole number.)
h= cm
θ= °

Draw this and it becomes clearer that the base is bisected by the altitude, so that the legs of each right triangle formed as a result has legs h and 22 cm and hypotenuse 30 cm.
This means h^2=30^2-22^2=900-484=416
so h=sqrt(416)=20.40 or 20
cosine of the angle is 22/30=42.83 deg or 43 deg
