The pythagorean theorem states that , with c being the hypotenuse and a being 12 you can easily find the value of b using the pythagorean theorem. If we subtitute we will get something like this . In other words , if we subtract 144 from both sides we will get . To simplify these terms we need to get their respective square roots so or . So the length of the other side is 5.
