What's the altitude of a triangle? I want a very simple definition please.
Every triangle has 3 bases; each base determines an altitude.
The altitude is the length of the perpendicular line segment
drawn from the vertex opposite the base to the base.
Draw a triangle.
Pick a side as a base.
Find the vertex opposite the base.
Draw a line segment from the vertex point perpendicular
to the line of the base.
Note: The line of the base may have to be extended so
the altitude will meet that line.
