A=(1/2)(b)(h) Start with the given equation.


64=(1/2)(b)(16) Plug in A=64 and h=16


128=(b)(16) Multiply both sides by 2.


8=b Divide both sides by 16 to isolate b.


So the solution is b=8 which means that the base is 8 feet.
