Question 98445This question is from textbook elementary and intermediate algebra
: the sum ot three numbers is 105. the third is 11 less than ten times the second. twice the first is 7 more than three times the second. find the numbers.
my work so far:
a+b+c=105
10b=c+11 >> 10b-c=1
2a=7+3b >> 2a-3b=7
next i know i have to get rid of one of the numbers so i decided on "a" and i started with equations 1 and 3 so i multiplyed 1 by 2 so the "a"s would cancel out.
-2a-2b-c=105
+
2a-3b=7
-5b-c=112
but now im stuck i dont know what to do next.

Question 100180: How can I do this?
In the following system of linear equations, state how to combine the two equations to obtain one equation with only one variable.
5x - 4y = 6
2x + 3y = 2
a. Multiply the terms in the first equation by 3, the terms of the second equation by 4, and then add the equation.
b. Multiply the terms in the first equation by 2, the terms of the second equation by 5, and then add the equations.
c. Multiply the terms in the first equation by -3, the terms of the second equation by 4, and then add the equations.
d. Add the equations

Question 102646: I am trying to help my college daughter with some problems.
She says they are order of operations questions. I don't know all the symbols on the keyboard.
Here are the problems:
-36 divided by (-2)x (3) + the square root of 169-25 +12
The back of her book says the answer is 78 and we sure aren't getting that.
2/5 divided by (-1/10) x(-3) + the square root of 64+36
Answer 22
-16x3/4 divided by(-2)+ the absolute value of 9-3(4+1)
Answer 12
4[5-8(2+1] divided by 3-6-(-4)to the second power
Answer 4
I am trying to help her over the phone and she is worried about an exam so I would appreciate any help.
Thanks so much! Robin
