Question 557651: A two-digit number is eight times the sim of its digits. When the number is added to the number obtained by reversing the digits, the sum is 99. Find the original number.
(I tried 10x+y=8(x+y), 10x+y+10y+x=99) It didn't work though...
Thanks!

Question 558965: I am trying to figure out how to solve the system:
2x - y = -8
y + 3z = 22
x z = -8
This is what I have so far in eliminating the y variable from the first two equations. 2x - y = -8
y +3 z = 22
That leaves 2x +3z = 14
I am stuck on how to eliminate x from the third equation since xz are together. Can you please help guide me to get the correct solution. Thanks.

Question 565619: Use the system to answer the question
{x+3y=6}
{4x + 6y = -6}
Note: The problem above are both under the { symbol, the first one is over the second one.
These are the choices for the problem
(-9, 5)
(-3, 3)
(6, 3)
(12, -2)
I'm not sure how I got it wrong. The correct answer was the first one. (I have the answers, so I can redo the ones I missed, but I have to show my work, and I don't know how to get that answer.) Could you look over my work that I did and explain how to get the solution? Thanks, much appreciated.
My Work:
{x+3y=6}
{4x + 6y = -6}
1. I multiply the first equation by -4 so I can eliminate the 4x
(-4) {x+3y=6} + {-4x -12y = -24}
2. I eliminate the 4x from the problem
{-4x - 12y = -24}
{4x + 6y = -6}
(-4 and 4 crosses out so I'm left with"
0x - 12y = -24
0x + 6y = -6
3. Then I solve:
-12 and a + 6 gets a -6. -24 and -6 gets -18
so I get 0x -6y = -18
From there I am stuck. I'm not sure if I use substitution or elimination or what.
Thanks for your help!

Question 568969: I understand how to graph when given an equation. I do not understand the reverse. For instance, what is the equation of a line with an intercept of (0,3) and a slope of -3. So x is 0 and y is 3. I am assuming the slope would go down to the left along the x axis but I still do not know how to go to the equation. Thanks

Question 572408: What is the answer in slope Y-intercept form for the equation: "8x-0y=-16"
I've tried to do it but the -0y throws me. I know how to deal with +0y, and the rest of the problem would be okay if I knew what the -0y meant. Thank you so much for your help!!
