let x=speed of boat in still water
let c=speed of current
(x+c)=speed of boat downstream
(x-c)=speed of boat upstream
travel time*speed=distance
6*(x+c)=72
6*(x-c)=48
6x+6c=72
6x-6c=48
12x=120
x=10
6c=72-60
6c=12
c=2
speed of boat in still water=10 mph
let c=speed of current=2 mph
