9 + 9b =20
a + 4b =5

Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
9.00 a + 9.00 b = 20.00 .............1
Total value
1.00 a + 4.00 b = 5.00 .............2
Eliminate y
multiply (1)by -4.00
Multiply (2) by 9.00
-36.00 a -36.00 b = -80.00
9.00 a + 36.00 b = 45.00
Add the two equations
-27.00 a = -35.00
/ -27.00
a = 1.30
plug value of a in (1)
9.00 a + 9.00 b = 20.00
11.67 + 9.00 b = 20.00
9.00 b = 20.00 -11.67
9.00 b = 8.33
b = 0.93
x= 1.30
y= 0.93
