You want to multiply one equation or both equations by constants to make the coefficients of either x^2 or y^2 match. Then you either subtract one equation from the other or add one equation to the other. This will give you one resulting equation with one unknown variable.

One way for your given equations can be this:
Multiply equation A by +2.
Add equation A to equation B.
Solve for the variable, x, from the resulting equation. Now use either original equation and solve for y.
