Question 704260: I have a problem. The question is: 5 fl. oz. of a 2% alcohol solution was mixed with 11 fl. oz. of a 66% alcohol solution. Find the concentration of the new mixture. I don't even know how to get it set up.
Answer by josgarithmetic(39630)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
How to set it up:
How much fluid ounces of the new mixture? (5 + 11) fluid ounces.
(Amount of alcohol from the 2% solution + amount of alcohol from the 66% solution)= Amount of just the alcohol.

%Alcohol_Mixture=100*(Amount of alcohol)/(Amount of mixture)
Alternatively,
Fraction_as_alcohol=(Amount of alcohol)/(Amount of mixture)

, where F is the fraction of mixture as alcohol.
