Question 660605: how do you solve: 8(2-n)-1=n+3(-5-1)+7n ... without getting a decimal or fraction
Answer by ReadingBoosters(3246) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Starting with
8(2-n)-1=n+3(-5-1)+7n
Distribute the 8 and complete the parentheses on the right
16 - 8n - 1 = n + 3(-6) + 7n
Combine like terms
15 - 8n = 8n - 18
15 + 18 - 8n + 8n = 8n - 18 + 18 + 8n
33 = 16n
33/16 = 16n/16
2 1/16 = n
I got a fraction also :(
