QUESTION:

simplify 3(a-b)+2(a+3b)-4(a-2b)

ANSWER:

3(a-b)+2(a+3b)-4(a-2b)

Remove the parenthesis by multiplying as follows,

3*a - 3*b + 2*a + 2*3b - 4*a + 4*2b

==> 3a - 3b + 2a + 6b- 4a + 8b

Now collect similar terms as follows,

==> 3a + 2a - 4a - 3b + 6b + 8b

Take out common factor

==> a ( 3 + 2 - 4 ) - b ( 3 -6 - 8 ){ If we put negative sign out side the bracket, sign of terms inside the bracket will change.

==> a ( 1 ) - b ( -11 )

==> a + 11b

Which is the required answer.

Hope you understood.

Regards.
