Question 62443: Please help w/ the following:
Use the Intermediate Value Theorem to determine which interval contains an x-intercept of the function.
f(x)=3x^5+5x^4+x^3-9x^2+4x-3
Thank you.
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
f(x)=3x^5+5x^4+x^3-9x^2+4x-3
f(0)=-3
f(1)=3+5+1-9+4-3=1
Since f(x)is negative at x=0
and positive at x=1, and since
f(x) is continuous over that
interval, f(x) has a zero on
the interval (0,1).

Stan H.
