Answer by CrazyMan Jr.(21)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5s+5h = 22.25
4s+3h = 14.50
20s+20h = 89 5h = 16.5 h = 3.3
20s+15h = 72.5 5h/5 = 16.5/5
Sub In
5s+5(3.3) = 22.25
5s+16.5 = 22.25
5s+16.5(-16.5) = 22.25(-16.5)
5s = 5.75
5s/5 = 5.75/5
s = 1.15
Proof Sub In Again
4(1.15)+3(3.3) = 14.50
4.6+9.9 = 14.5
14.5 = 14.5
Therefore, 1 hotdog cost $3.30 & 1 soft drink cost $1.15 (1.15+3.30)= $4.45

Your family likes to go to baseball games. At one game your family bought 5 soft drinks and 5 hot dogs for $22.25. At the next game your family attended they bought 4 soft drinks and 3 hot dogs for $14.50. What is the cost of one soft drink and one hot dog?
-----------------
1st: 5s+5h=22.25
2nd: 4s+3h=14.50
Subtract 2nd from 1st to get:
3rd: s+2h=7.75
Multiply 3rd by 5 to get:
4th: 5s+10h=38.75
Subtract 1st from 4th to get:
5th: 5h=16.50
h=3.30 (cost of one hot dog)
Substitute into 2nd to for "s":
4s+3(3.30)=14.50
4s+9.90=14.50
4s=4.60
s=1.15 (price of one soft drink)
Check answer in 1st:
5(1.15)+5(3.30)=22.25
5.75+16.50=22.25
22.25=22.25
