Question 52511: Please help!!!, I don't understand what the instructor is asking for.
What is the formula for measuring sound.
Pick a specific sound, give the decibels of the sound, and explain what this measurement means

Answer by Nate(3500)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Sound intensity(loudness) is measured on a logrithmic scale.
dB = 10 log (I / Io)
I = intensity of sound (joules per second per m^2)
Io = softess sound a human can hear (10^-12)
A thunder clap: I = 10^0 = 1
dB = 10 log(1/10^(-12))
dB = 10 log(10^12)
dB = 10 (12) = 120
