two years ago, Mary's age=(2x/3)-2=(2x-6)/3
5 years from now, Peter's age=(x+5)
..
((2x-6)/3)/(x+5)=1/2
(2x-6)/3(x+5)=1/2
4x-12=3x+15
x=27
