Okay, let's solve the first one for y and substitute that into the second one
-5x+y=-2
-3x+6y=-12
we get
y = 5x - 2
then
-3x + 6(5x - 2) = -12
-3x + 30x - 12 = -12
27x = 0
x = 0
back into eqn #1...
0 + y = -2
y = -2
