Question 342987: Please solve algebraically:
I do not know really where to start on this one, I would think that you would complete the square for the second equation to begin. However, after that I do not know what to do with the first equation.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as this seems difficult to me, thank you so so much!
Answer by Sphynx pinastri(7) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First, simplify the equations
Subtract the equations from each other to get
a linear dependency between x and y.
Solve it relatively to x or y and substitute to
the one of the original equations.
Solve the resulting square equation.
The rest of the solution is left to the
exercise of the reader.
